The following represents our general pricing policies. Please call us to obtain a quote, as the precise rate you will be quoted depends on the type of transcript or other service you request, as well as your turnaround requirements.

Kindly note that we do not transcribe poorly recorded audio.

Projects Charged By the Recorded Hour
Most transcription projects are charged by the recorded minute. You pay only for the number of recorded minutes that have elapsed, so if you have a 34-minute recording, you pay only for 34 minutes.

Projects Charged by the Labor Hour
These projects include editing, proofreading, preparation of edited transcripts, summary transcripts (which are reductions of what would otherwise be a verbatim or near-verbatim transcript), and descriptions of B-roll footage.

Hybrid Pricing Projects
Some projects require us to accomplish two separate tasks, one of which is charged by the recorded minute, the other of which is charged by the labor hour. An example of a hybrid project is a transcript requiring separate name identification of multiple speakers. The initial task of transcribing the audio is charged by the recorded minute. The second task requires viewing the video, identifying speakers, and inserting the proper names into the transcript, and is charged by the labor hour.

What are Master Transcription's Typical Turnaround Times for Transcripts?
Ultimately, our turnaround times will depend on our existing workloads at the time you place your order. The sooner you call us to schedule your project, the better chance your project will have of being given preferential placement on our schedule. That being said, our clients always marvel at how fast we turn projects around.

Do You Need Transcripts or Other Services on a Rush Basis?
Transcripts or other services requested on a rush basis are charged a "rush rate" above the normal applicable rates. Work done on weekends and holidays also is subject to a rush rate. There is a limit to the number of hours of recording we can handle on a rush basis on any particular day. Further, as noted above, our turnaround times ultimately will depend on our existing workloads at the time you place your order.

Normally, work requested on a same-day basis in excess of 30 minutes is charged double our normal rate. Work requested on a next-day basis in excess of 30 minutes is charged 50% more than our normal rate.
